We’re back!

At the end of 2014, we announced that we were going to be shifting gears which resulted in a quiet first quarter. We want to thank those that supported our Godmachine La Haine release since that’s been our only drop thus far.

We’ve been working diligently behind the scenes to bring you some sweet new art, both movie related and not, and think you’ll dig what we’re going to be releasing throughout the rest of the year.

One of our goals when we started the business was to help introduce amazing new artists to this scene and give them an opportunity to tackle a licensed property. Regardless if they’re popular or not, we wanted to help them find ways to reach a new audience, in addition to having a supportive outlet where they could sell their art, art based on both original ideas and some pop culture ones.

What does this all mean? It means that we will be representing a handful of very select artists, either very regularly or exclusively, to promote them as well as release and promote their art. Soon you’ll see two new sections on our website called Artists and The Gallery. The first will show a list of the artists that we will be working with regularly or that we’ll be exclusively representing. Artists will be added once we’ve introduced them via our newsletter, blog, etc. The Gallery section will be for other passion projects of ours that generally won’t be pop culture related. We have two major series in the works that we’re super excited about and news on each will be revealed in time.

Over the remainder of the year, we’ll be introducing three artists that will be joining our roster, but it’s about that time we introduced the first one: Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Picolo, FAMP Art’s first resident artist.

Gabriel is a young illustrator from Brazil who we came across last summer when he was working on an amazing 365 Days of Doodles project. When you see those doodles your jaw is going to drop the same way ours did (check out his Instagram). We knew right then and there that we had to find a way to work with him, so we gave him a test: We asked him to design a poster for André Øvredal’s Norwegian mockumentary, Trollhunter (aka Trolljegeren), because of his ability to create rich and fun visuals with creatures. He submitted an idea and we loved it. After a few weeks, he came back to us with the final product and it was a nifty, simple and elegant take on the film. This is the largest canvas he has worked on thus far and was his first real test using color. It’s also the first movie poster he’s ever made and will be the first piece of art that he sells as a limited edition print. We were going to wait until October to release the piece, but people from all over the world have been begging him to publicly sell his art and so we thought, why wait, let’s kick-off his collectible print debut with a licensed poster.

Here’s what Gabriel had to say about the project: “Working on the Trollhunter poster project was a unique experience for me. That’s because, until now, it was the first time I watched a movie thinking about the illustration I’d draw afterwards. It changes how you see the whole thing. As I watched the movie I was seeking for interesting visual features that could help me to create the poster. I would like to thank Alex and FAMP Art for inviting me to join this project!”

To commemorate his first screen print release and to welcome him into the FAMP Art family, we’ll be making his Trollhunter print available as a timed edition. The art is an 18”x24” screen print that will cost $39. It will go on sale Thursday, May 14th at 12pm EST and will end on May 24th at 6pm EST. The print ships WW. The art will take up to two months to ship as we can’t print until we have the final edition size confirmed. There is no limit on the amount of prints you can purchase within the sale period. We will refund you the difference in shipping should you order more than one print, but we only ship a maximum of three prints together.   All orders are final and cannot be cancelled.

Additionally, we will be releasing prints of Gabriel’s popular doodles throughout the year in addition to some other fun stuff, so if you want to know about Gabriel’s future releases be sure to sign-up for our newsletter on www.fampart.com or follow us on twitter, facebook or Instagram to keep up with the latest news.

Lastly, we’ll be attending Boston Comic Con this July. If you live in the Boston area, be sure to come give us a shout. We’ll announce booth info and releases at a later date.

That’s all the news for now. Stay tuned, we’ll be announcing a new artist and dropping an incredible piece related to one of the series we’re working on in June.
