The Labours of Hercules – Gallery of Every Piece in the Show

Over the past two weeks, artists and various art websites have revealed details about all the pieces in our first gallery show, The Labours of Hercules.  If you’ve been following us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, you’ve probably seen us posting all of these images as well as close-up shots of the printed art.

In case you haven’t had a chance to see all the art in one place, below you’ll find a beautiful gallery containing all the art for the show, including the artist’s name, the edition size of the print and the actual print size for each piece.  Some pieces, like the Glyn Smyth one, look a little different in person or, like Lucas Ruggieri’s, may have an original, which is why we’ll be posting nice shots of the printed pieces on the blog as well as detail shots so you can see just how great the art is on paper.

Enjoy.

FAMP Art Presents: The Labours of Hercules – Full Line-up and Show Details Announced

Labours of Hercules show card 2

13 Artists. 12 Labours. 1 Hercules.

On December 12, 2015, FAMP Art will be hosting its debut art show titled The Labours of Hercules. This show marks our first foray into the gallery space and we are looking to make a splash in a legendary way.

Mythology is one of the most fascinating aspects of ancient Greek culture and the Heroic age, specifically, is responsible for the stories about some of the most well-known figures in history, in particular, Heracles, or, more popularly known by his Roman name, Hercules.

With a desire to curate a unique show that would allow for fun artistic freedom and a break from the standard pop-culture art show, we decided to continue our mythological streak, which started with DZO’s ‘Dragon’ release, and focus on the stories that made Hercules such a legend. 12 artists were selected and assigned one of Hercules’ labours that they could interpret in their own way. They could focus on the labour itself, the interaction between Hercules and the labour, or focus on the aftermath. A 13th artist was then selected to illustrate a piece focusing on the man himself, Hercules. The show will include a variety of screen printed pieces, a few giclee prints and couple of originals from artists all around the world.

The event will take place on Dec 12th at Bottleneck Gallery, located at 60 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11249, with doors opening at 7pm and at 9:00. The gallery is located in Williamsburg and is accessible by car, bus and subway.

The show is free to attend so be sure to bring some friends There will be free beer, wine and other beverages for those in attendance. As a bonus, we will also be giving out a free print out by artist Glyn Smyth to the first 20 people in line. You can join the Facebook event page here to stay up to date on what will be released at the show.  Pieces will start being unveiled the week of November 30th.

All art that isn’t sold at the gallery will be put online Monday, December 14th and will go on sale at 12pm Est. Prints will ship worldwide.

Below is the full line-up of artists who have graciously contributed to the show along with the respective labours they were assigned.  Click their names to check out more of their amazing work.

‘Snowpiercer’ by JC Richard Close-up Shots and Shipping Update

‘Snowpiercer’ by JC Richard Close-up Shots and Shipping Update

We were pretty excited to finally announce the officially licensed release of well-known pop-culture artist JC Richard’s take on Bong Joon-Ho’s visionary film, Snowpiercer, earlier this week.  It’s a print that has been in the pipeline for a very long time but we’re finally glad to unveil it to the public.

Under license from Radius-TWC, the sister label of The Weinstein Co, JC’s piece is a beautiful 24”x36” seven color screen print with two metallic inks all over the sacred engine.  It’s an instance where metallic ink is actually used on something that’s supposed to be metallic.  The poster has an edition of 195 pieces and costs $50.

Prints will start shipping Saturday, November 28th and for those who already purchased them, you’re in for something special.  The metallic inks on this piece are subtle and a little tough to capture on camera, but when you see this print from various angles you’ll find it tough to miss how great the metallic inks actually are on it.  As for the rest of the print, it’s just as stellar.  Below are some close-up shots of the art.

FAMP Art is ecstatic to present our first officially licensed print for Bong Joon Ho’s critically acclaimed sci-fi action film, Snowpiercer, with art by the wonderfully talented pop culture illustrator, Alice X. Zhang.

Under license from The Weinstein Company via their sister label Radius-TWC, FAMP Art will release Alice’s print at this year’s New York Comic Con at the Grey Matter Art booth #2366 from October 8th to October 10th.  Super excited to be sharing the space with them. An image of the NYCC map can be found at the bottom of the email.

Alice’s Snowpiercer poster is a 24”x18” archival giclee print on Somerset Velvet fine art paper. Priced at $50, it is a hand numbered edition of 150 pieces.  There will be no limit on the amount you can purchase of this print.

The poster will go on sale on October 8th when the convention floor opens and will be sold until closing of the con on the 10th.  We’ll have a few of our other posters there and expect to find free stickers and a free show card for our first gallery show at the booth as well.  Make sure to come say hi.

100 of the prints will be available at the convention and there is a high probability that they will all be signed by Alice, who will also be in attendance at the con.  Whatever prints aren’t sold will be placed in our shop at www.fampart.com on Monday October 12th around noon.  The print can only be shipped to the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and all of these countries’ respective territories.

This print has been a long time coming and we’re thrilled that we’re finally able to release it….but stay tuned, there will be another one coming later this year (the one we teased at the end of 2014).

FAMP Art Announces First Gallery Show, Adds a New Artist to Their Roster and Announces Next Print

FAMP Art Announces First Gallery Show, Adds a New Artist to Their Roster and Announces Next Print

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all those that came by our booth this past weekend at Boston Comic Con. We had a blast and it was awesome meeting so many people that are passionate about the same types of films and art that we’re into. You really helped make our first convention experience as a vendor amazing and we’re really excited to do it again soon.

At the con, we had on display a new art print by a new FAMP Artist as well as dropped a big announcement via a show card on the table. The print, displayed below, is called The Naval Battle and it’s a piece by Karl Fitzgerald.

the naval battle

Karl is a British illustrator, concept artist and comic book artist currently working in the South East of England. He creates imaginative worlds and tells stories through atmospheric imagery. Using traditional methods as well as digital tools he is able to create a fresh, loose but focused style. Having been mentored by comic book artist Chris Weston, he has developed a ranged skill set from comic book art to concept design. “My major influences include Moebius, Sergio Toppi, Adrian Smith and Mike Mignola, but I have many artist heroes!” says Karl.

We came across Karl’s work after seeing Chris Weston, who we’ve worked with before, post some of his pieces online. We followed him for a bit and then when he unveiled his Naval Battle piece we knew we had to work with him. As a result, we’re teaming up to release that very print in two versions.

The first is a 28.2″x15.2″ giclee printed on somerset velvet fine art paper with archival inks. It’ll be hand numbered, an edition of 20 and will cost $55.

The second is a 28.2″x15.2″ giclee printed on canvas with archival inks. It’ll be hand numbered, an edition of 5 and will cost $150.

Both versions will go on sale via our website this Thursday, August 6th, at 12pm EST. Be sure to follow Karl on Facebook to see more of his amazing work.

But wait, there’s more!

Labours of Hercules show card

We’re incredibly excited to announce that we will be hosting our first ever gallery show on December 12, 2015 at Bottleneck Gallery. Continuing with the mythology series that we started with DZO, we will be having a show dedicated to the Greek legend, Hercules. The show is titled The Labours of Hercules and will feature 13 artists from all over the world. 12 artists have been assigned to individual labours while the 13th artist will be illustrating his own version of Hercules.

Karl is one of the 13 artists in the show and is responsible for the incredible art on our show card (see above). He was assigned the 10th labour, The Cattle of Geryon, and has created a heavy metal looking piece that has set the bar high for the quality of art this show will have on display in December. Going forward, we will be unveiling one participating artist from the show every two weeks as we build up to the main event.

Be sure to save the date by marking your calendar’s now and subscribe/follow/etc. to stay up to date on our latest releases. Our next movie print is set to drop at the end of August/early September and you won’t want to miss out on it, trust us.

‘Trollhunter’ by Gabriel Picolo Printing/Shipping Update

Hi All,

The posters for the timed release of Gabriel Picolo’s  Trollhunter have been printed.  We should have them in hand early next week and will start shipping them as soon as they arrive.  The final run size was 48 prints.

Below are two pictures that come straight from the printer.  The colors look like they really pop which I think will make it a pretty nifty piece to hang on the wall.

For the purposes of transparency, there was one slight change on the image that ended up being unavoidable.  You’ll notice that the spotlight gradient is slightly different than the advertised image.  Unfortunately, due to the small area, the inks wouldn’t stick well to allow for a split fountain/smooth gradient like we had initially anticipated.  We found an alternative method but it changed the look ever so slightly (as you can see below).  We think Diamond Hill Screen Printing did a solid job of finding a way to make it work so that the print’s aesthetic wouldn’t change.  Should you not like the results we will be happy to refund any money since this was a last minute decision while it was on the printer. We didn’t want to hold the prints up any longer but we also didn’t want to scrap the project.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

DZO and FAMP Art Teaming Up to Release ‘Dragon’, His First Release as Part of the FAMP Art Family

DZO and FAMP Art Teaming Up to Release ‘Dragon’, His First Release as Part of the FAMP Art Family

Hi All,

In our last blog post detailing the new FAMP Art strategy, we mentioned how we would be working regularly with a few specific artists, providing them a channel to release some awesome prints based on original ideas.  We also disclosed that we had a few cool series in the works that weren’t pop-culture related.  Well, now is the time where those two announcements officially collide.

We’d like to introduce you to an artist that we have been following since the early fall of 2014.  At the time he wasn’t ready to begin selling his art, but by the end of the year he decided to shift gears and 2015 saw his first limited edition releases.  Since then, people have started to notice more of his work and he has gained some notoriety for his incredible and mesmerizing art.  I’ve personally been buying his art and it is awe inspiring to see in person.  It’s the type of art you could spend hours staring at, wondering how in the hell he managed to draw the image with his hand.  So, without further ado, we’d like to introduce you all to DZO (aka DZO Olivier), the second artist to join the FAMP Art family.

DZO is a self-taught illustrator based in France that has a passion for, what I would like to call, elegant darkness.  His work is incredibly detailed, taking cues and inspiration from ancient styles which is then fueled by his passion for exploring philosophical ideas, the occult, religion and more.  His work with pencil and ink is nothing short of astounding and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the prospect of working with him.  Follow him on Facebook and definitely on Instagram to see all of his art, including some very cool work-in-progress shots for future releases.

DZO will periodically be releasing prints based on original ideas and licensed properties through the FAMP Art website, the first of which is titled “Dragon.”  This piece will not only kick start our relationship, but it’ll also kick start our first series of prints based on a theme that we’re very passionate about, mythology.  When we approached DZO about this series we had one subject in mind that we really wanted to see him tackle, dragons.  His response was simple: “I love those pets.” It was at that moment we knew we were going to get something special and, boy, did we.  Check out the full image below the post, which was exclusively revealed on Beautiful.Bizarre, and prepare for your jaw to hit the floor.  We’ll post detail shots closer to the release.

We will be releasing details about the release fairly soon but, for now, if you’re interested in being added to a DZO reserve list let us know.  We will be making a separate list for diehard collectors, giving them an opportunity to purchase certain versions of his art before it goes on sale to the masses.  If interested in being put on this list, please email info@fampart.com.

To keep up with all of our releases, be sure to follow FAMP Art on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and/or sign up for the newsletter by registering on our site.  We’ve got a lot more to come this year, so be sure to stay tuned for more awesome art.

‘La Haine’ by Godmachine On Sale Wednesday, February 25th

‘La Haine’ by Godmachine On Sale Wednesday, February 25th

Hi Everyone,

Finally, radio silence has been broken.  Yesterday, Inside the Rock Poster Frame unveiled our first print for 2015 by the awesome Welsh artist Godmachine.  We teamed with him to create a movie poster for Mathieu Kassovitz’s film, La Haine.  We’re big fans of the film and, since Godmachine is a huge fan of it too, we decided to join forces and bring you all nifty and timely print to start the year off.

Below you’ll find the full press release with more details about the print, which we have in-hand and are ready to ship.  The print will go on sale February 25th at 1pm EST on our website. It measures 18”x24”, will have a run of 50 prints and will cost $45. This print ships worldwide.

With an interesting year ahead, FAMP Art is going through an evolution we didn’t see coming and we’re really excited about it. We wanted to start 2015 off with a small, yet highly relevant print as we worked our way up to a mainstream title and other fun projects.

Mathieu Kassovitz’s 1995 crime drama, La Haine, is one of the most highly regarded French films of the past 20 years and with all the political unrest that exists here in the States and France, it felt fitting to release a print for this now rather than wait.

If you haven’t seen the film, La Haine depicts the lives of few young inner-city Frenchmen after their friend is unjustifiably beaten by the police. A riot ensues and one of the guys finds a cop’s gun, ultimately deciding that if his friend dies, he’s going to kill a cop with it.

As you can see, it’s very relevant and something we felt made sense to release at this point in time. For this print, we teamed up with Le Pacte and popular Welsh artist Godmachine to create a gritty and anarchic poster that reflects the style and passion that the film exudes.

Fun fact: It just so happens that this is one of Godmachine’s all-time favorite films so we were thrilled at the idea of working with him on it.

The print will go on sale February 25th at 1pm EST on the FAMP Art website. It measures 18”x24”, will have a run of 50 prints and will cost $45. This print ships worldwide.
